New Article and New Picture from the Sunday Telegraph

I new interview with Dan was posted in the The Sunday Telegraph , here Dan talks about Harry Potter, what he wants to do for his b-day, December Boys and his fortune!!

Radcliffe talks so much - he admits he can talk for England - that it’s a struggle to keep him quiet enough to take the photographs.

But we manage and, shoot over, he changes back into his teenage boy’s uniform of black T-shirt, skinny jeans and Converse boots to talk some more. And more.

Radcliffe is looking forward to his birthday, although he hasn’t decided if he’ll have a party.

“I probably should, but it depends on how much organisation I’d have to do,” he ponders, seemingly unaware he could afford to pay someone to organise it for him. Or ask his mum.

“I’m terribly excited about my birthday, though. It’ll be brilliant. I think loads of things are going to change as soon as I turn 18, although they probably won’t. But, in my head, I’m suddenly entering a world of being an adult.”

The London-based actor is looking forward to the worldwide release of Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix, although he admits he’s a little daunted by the film’s many premieres.

“I get a bit nervous; all these people are screaming at you and I never know where to stand or where to look.

“But I think it’s the best film so far. Everybody’s performances have taken a big step up and David Yates’ direction is phenomenal. It’s a hard thing to say without worrying everyone, but it feels like a very different type of film to the rest. It’s really fantastic; it’s the first time I’ve watched one of the films and thought, I can’t wait to see that again.”

In late 2005, he spent time in South Australia filming December Boys, a coming-of-age drama based on the Michael Noonan novel.

Radcliffe plays Maps, one of four orphaned boys who compete to be adopted by a couple they meet on a seaside holiday.

December Boys director Rod Hardy knows that having a star as famous as Radcliffe will be a huge boon for his film.

“I knew I had to find a name to get the financing and when Daniel was mentioned I thought, terrific, but can I afford him? But that wasn’t an issue. Daniel didn’t do the film for the money; it was more because he loved the project.”

Hardy had already cast up-and-coming Adelaide

Despite the five Harry Potter films under his belt, Radcliffe admits to having had a few nerves on the first day of filming December Boys.

“I knew people were going to be expecting the child actor syndrome big-time. They were expecting me to be a complete nightmare, but I like to think I’m not like that. Everybody was really friendly and welcoming and I had a great time.”

In fact, Radcliffe seems to have been a bit of a hit with his new Australian friends.

“He has a great sense of humour,” says Hardy. “He loves to play jokes; at a couple of functions at my house (in Melbourne) he pulled out a deck of cards and entertained guests with magic tricks. He’s very good at it. He loves that kind of stuff and that’s what makes him interesting. He just loves life.”

Hardy says Radcliffe’s performance in Equus should convince everyone there’s more to him than Harry Potter.

“I flew to London from LA to see the opening night of Equus and I was mesmerised by his ability to take on the role. He was on stage 99 per cent of the time and was working with some really good actors, but he was quite extraordinary. If he wants to continue, I think he has the ability to be quite a brilliant young actor.”

Equus Review

Ada a member from the e-w.net forum has sent us a wonderful review of Equus, she saw this production 4 days before the final day and here is what she said about this wonderful play:

I scraped the funds together to ship my self (albeit unfortunately temporarily) to London to visit family, and see a little play called Equus! So I left at the end of May and when I arrived I was extremely pumped. I had my hair done, my "Equus" dress picked out, and I was prepared (hopefully), to be able to speak to Daniel Radcliffe if possible. The first few days I recovered from jetlag, hung out, and did some shopping. River Island, Top Shop, and Neiman Marcus are definetly top on my list. Anyways, I saw Equus the Wednesday before it closed on June the 9th.

The day I went was amazing. I sat in my seat (stage/stable), and I waited for it to begin. I kept shifting my bum in my seat, I couldn't sit still! A few girls behind me were the same so I know I wasn't the only one suffering from "OMG, Daniel Radcliffe is gonna be in front of me" syndrome! So the first time Dan comes out as Alan Strang (as you probably know), he screams television jingles. Thing is though, the first 10 minutes, I don't even know if my mouth was open, but I couldn't....I mean he was right in front of me! I was shaken like a leaf and frozen as ice at the same time. I mean, guys, he was right in front of me. If I stood up, took 3-4 long strides I would have been in front of him totally. That was something I had to get my head around. I'm grateful to my body for not making some loud squeak of pleasure or sobbing like a baby or anything ridiculous. I kept my wits about me thanks very much, I did.

I liked when Alan and Jill were watching porn, and they get caught, and he turns to the audience (not exactly my way but in the vicinity of where Emma Watson and Katie Leung were seated, more on that later), and says F****! LMAO! The dialogue/relationship between Alan and Dr. Dystart was really fun to watch. I liked their back and forth....it was almost like verbal sparing between them. The story is not just about the Alan/Jill scene (although truely, the whole way through it was a very touching thing to see), the play haf much to offer I assure you.

There is this scene at the end of Act One where Alan is riding Nugget and says something like "free....make us one person" I bloody can't remember the words but the intention and emotion to it was enough, and very mindblowing. Ok, anyone who says he can't act can kiss my sweet ass because HE CAN. He was unbelivable in it. The Scene where Alan and Jill attempt to consumate their relationship was pretty...well IMO it was only hot briefly. The lighting was alright, but I mean you could see their skin. Dr. Dystart is watching in the corner with his hands in his pocket and he has this look on his face....wow. Anyways because as he is unable to consumate with her, and he so badly wants to, so he jumps up and blinds the horses. It was honestly a disturbing scene. The horses are basically actors wearing all black and they have these metal/wire whatever they were made of, heads , with glowing eyes....to be honest, they were sometimes creepy looking. And the noises they made....it seriously sends shivers down your spine. They had to move these blocks around at times with scenes (a girl mentioned it on a video on youtube), and they did look a bit heavy! Um I can't think of anything else to say on the play other then it was the best one I've ever seen in my life. Better then Phantom of the Opera (which I love with all my heart), and Hairspray, and Jesus Christ Superstar. It just was unbelievable.

So because I had cramps, I went staight to collapse after the play. Then I went another day to hopefully have a word with Dan. I got a good spot, I was in the front row, so I felt sure I would be seen. So I couldn't speak and as He got closer to me I feared my sudden muteness, would slash my experience of a lifetime to talk to Dan however long I could. So I sucked in a breath, open my mouth, and the first thing that came out of it, I could swear was not what was on my mind. I just blurted "do you have any Idea how gorgeous you are?" Now guess what? He blushed! That's right, I got him to blush! He said thanks after he blushed LOL! He's English of course, and he's got the manners, so he said in full "Thank you very much indeed." YAY! Then I told him I'd travelled from North America to see him and he had a look of amazement. Are people around him brainwashing him or something? Does he not know many fans will do whatever the hell they have to do to see him? LOL. Anyways, so he said thanks and I beamed at him, and he looked at me back. He actually makes eye contact with everyone he talks too it's amazing. And he got around to everyone before he slipped back inside, his bodyguard beside him. Best day of my bloody life.

Thanks Ada, you are a wonderful Fan!!!

Articles about Daniel and Emma

The Telegraph has a nice article about "How Harry Potter and friends grew up"

Here are some quotes from this article:

"Radcliffe, 17, has already briefly shed his Harry Potter wizard robes for a well-received West End stint as the troubled young man who blinds horses in Equus. He has a film, The December Boys, awaiting release and is due to begin work on another, My Boy Jack, soon.

... He has a keen sense of humour and a quick wit and, with Peter Sellers as his role model, has his sights on dramatic and light-comedy parts.

On July 9, Radcliffe will cement his stardom by placing his hand prints on Hollywood's Walk of Fame, but he still finds the idea "really bizarre". "It's one of the things I get embarrassed about because it's such a massive honour. It's a very exciting prospect."

Despite having been in the eye of the Harry Potter storm for most of their childhoods, Radcliffe and his two co-stars seem remarkably well-adjusted and down to earth...

Emma Watson, at 16 the youngest of the trio, has grown into an attractive young woman over the course of the films, but she is probably the least confident in her own abilities. While she sees a lot of her Hermione Granger character in herself - "We're both very stubborn, determined, loyal, academic feminists" - she believes any acting talent she has is instinctive and is unsure whether it will be enough to carry her on in after Harry.

Watson, who was wearing blue Diesel jeans and a pink Chanel top, is being paid a reported £2 million for each of the final two films in the series, but insists that her drawn-out contractual negotiations were not money-motivated. "It was more about juggling my A-level exams, going to university and doing the movies," she says.

*********************************************************

The The Daily Mail has a interesting article called "Move over Hermione - there are three new girls vying for Harry Potter's attentions", this article touches Harry's story and also the actors from this movie:

"Today, though, there is nothing naive about Daniel Radcliffe, who is 18 in three weeks. He walks confidently into the room in a grey suit, black shirt and silver tie which give him more of a touch of Al Capone than Harry Potter.

Compared to Rupert, the same age, who lopes along beside him, all shaggy red hair, jeans and T-shirt, Daniel seems aeons ahead in sophistication. Perhaps appearing naked for the recent sell-out run of Equus in London's West End has led to Daniel's startling new maturity and stature.

Emma, the daughter of two lawyers and the only one of the three main characters still at school - she is at the £11,000-a-year Headington School in Oxford where she is studying for A levels - said: "You have your first cigarette or glass of alcohol in a safe environment with friends, or you choose to do it in a nightclub and you come out and you can't walk.

Emma says: "If I'm having boy troubles I'll occasionally track down Rupert and say, 'What is going on here, I don't understand.'" Daniel quickly interjects: "Don't ask what she means by boy troubles!"

Daniel, an only child, who lives with his parents - his father is a literary agent, his mother a casting agent - in Fulham, West London, is said to be likely to come into the £20 million fortune he has earned through his acting on his 18th birthday on July 23. That's just two days after the final book is published.

But one thing's for sure, Harry the heartthrob will work his magic."

Videos and Articles of Tokyo Premier

Yahoo has a nice article about Daniel at the Tokyo Premier

Older, taller, and with a hint of stubble on his chin, the world's most famous wizard returned to the big screen in "Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix" which follows his fifth year at Hogwarts.

His fans, who have watched Harry Potter star Daniel Radcliffe mature from a baby-faced 11-year-old into a trendy teenager, were not disappointed.

"I've been following Harry Potter from the very beginning as he has grown up and so I feel like I have grown up with him. He's become good looking," [a fan] added.

"It was great, especially his wand which can bend," added 10-year-old Katsuhisa Miyata.

Sporting a white summer suit, matching shoes and a pale blue shirt, 17-year-old Radcliffe dazzled hundreds of fans with his boyish smile and Japanese language skills, stopping to shake hands and sign autographs.

There were a lot of fans at the airport but not everyone managed to get inside and see [him] because the security was very tight. But we still have the premier!! "

Dan junket interview - Reuters

****************************************************

A reporter from the German publication Morgenpost had these kind words to say about Daniel (Thanks to dr.com)

"Radcliffe appears in a suit, and answers the questions respectfully and courteously. After the press conference, he is the only one of the cast who says thank you to the moderator with a handshake. Not like a spoilt superstar, not like a millionaire, who is able to afford everything, but like a very well bred English boy, who shortly celebrates his 18th birthday. He still is the classic example of a child star, who is down to earth."

As fan of this young actor, I feel so proud how well manner and what a down to earth this guy is, this quote shows Dan's real character!! Well done Dan!!
