There was an article today in "This is London" in the theater news column, where they wrote about how the next year Plays will be fighting back against the blockbuster musicals that have dominated the West End this year.
"A string of high-profile productions has been planned for next year to take on the likes of The Sound Of Music, Spamalot and Dirty Dancing.
Leading the charge is Kenneth Branagh's revival of Peter Shaffer's 1973 play Equus, featuring Harry Potter star Daniel Radcliffe."
And here is the interesting part, according to this article the pre-sale tickets for Equus has a total of £750,000 ($1,480,000)....more than 1 mllion dollars for pre-tickets sales...NO BAD AT ALL for a play that will open on the 27th of February.
"The 17-year-old will play the role of a disturbed delinquent who attacks horses and will have to strip on stage at the Gielgud Theatre. With advance takings of £750,000, the play is set to be a smash hit when it opens in February. Richard Griffiths costars."
