Beware of Shark Attack

First Piranhas and now sharks.

Director David R. Ellis (Final Destination 2, Snakes On A Plane) has cast his first four vacationers for his upcoming 3D epic, the aptly titled Shark Night 3D.  Heat Vision reports Ellis has cast Sinqua Walls (Savage County), Chris Carmack (The Butterfuly Effect: Revelation), Alyssa Diaz (Red Dawn) and Joel David Moore (Avatar).

Who cares about a cast of people no one has heard of? I agree. But the horror film, penned by Jesse Studenberg and Will Hayes, revolves around seven men and women who spend a weekend at a lake house in Louisiana's Gulf area and find their vacation quickly becomes a nightmare of hellish shark attacks, unheard of in freshwater lakes. The group soon discover that the sharks are part of a sick, greedy plan on the part of several locals.

If done right, this could be a lot of fun. The film rolls in September.

Steven Moffat says No Daleks for Series 6 of Doctor Who

So no Daleks for series 6 of Doctor Who? That's apparently what will happen (or not happen depending on how you see it) according to the Moff himself.

Speaking at the Edinburgh Television Festival, Doctor Who showrunner Steven Moffat has indicated that there are no plans to have the Doctor's most famous enemies return for the next series, though production is not yet complete.

Steven Moffat said:
There will be a Dalek story when we've got a good idea for a Dalek story. [When that happens], there will be lots of different kinds of Daleks.
Have they run out of good Dalek stories then?

It's true that many fans have criticized the fact that the Daleks have appeared quite a few times on the series over the course of the past 5 years - ever since its return in 2005 under former showrunner Russell T Davies.

But there is something else that has me pricking my ears; its that Moffat says that when the Daleks DO return, there will be ''lots of different kinds.''

Now, is Steven Moffat talking about the different Daleks we saw emerge last season in Victory of the Daleks (the blue, yellow, white, orange and red ones)? The ''old'' ones? A mix of all of them? Could they even be completely new Daleks?

That's certainly food for thoughts.

So what do you think? Are you ultimately disappointed to see that the Daleks may not appear in series 6, or do you think that the Doctor needs a breather from everything Dalek?

Sly Tweets For Expendables 2 Ideas

Sylvester Stallone, writer and director of the incredibly awesome box-office hit The Expendables, is on Twitter and looking for you ideas for the eventual follow up.

He said he's had dinner with Bruce Willis and was thinking about making him the villain of the next film. Apparently Willis suggested Stallone bring Stone Cold Steve Austin back to life as Willis' twin bald brother. His response: "Do I have to battle that monster again!!!!!!!?????"

Sly's also soliciting ideas as to where the film should take place, asking fellow Tweeters what the "most dangerous places in the world" are. Responses have included North Korea, South Africa and Thailand, Iran, Afghanistan and Milan.

All I know is I want the sequel to arrive sooner rather than later! If you haven't watched it, get your ass into a theatre seat now!

Seventh Doctor Sylvester McCoy set to play a wizard in 'The Hobbit'!

First off – fear not! Ian McKellen is still Gandalf, but Sylvester McCoy (who was the seventh Doctor on Doctor Who) is in contention to play a huge role in The Hobbit, and the role McCoy is set to play is that of another important wizard in the Lord of the Rings lore.

Sylvester McCoy spoke to the Argyllshire Standard this weekend and confirmed he was in contention, along with another actor (no idea as to who the other actor may be), for one of the wizards part:
I am being cast in The Hobbit. We're currently in negotiations - there are two of us under consideration. It's not the Bilbo role, but could be bigger.
TheOneRing.net goes further by suggesting that McCoy could be playing Radagast the Brown, a character who is part of the Tolkien lore, though he never appeared in director Peter Jackson’s Lord of the Rings trilogy.

They are basing their assumption on the fact that Radagast the Brown will have a bigger role (the fact that he wasn’t in the first trilogy at all WILL definitely make it a bigger role – just saying) in The Hobbit.

Since Sylvester McCoy almost played Bilbo Baggins (the role ultimately went to Ian Holm), it’s sweet to know that in all likelihood we’ll get to see him in The Hobbit either as Radagast or as another character.

What say you? Would you like to see Sylvester McCoy a.k.a. Doctor No. 7 play Radagast the Brown in The Hobbit?

Box Office Report: Last Exorcism steals top spot from Takers

Following the motion picture box office is kinda like playing the stock market, only with nothing invested and nothing gained. Sure, there's movies you like that you hope will perform well but, if that doesn't happen, you're not out anything.

I've been a box office tracker for years now and never cease to be amused and entertained by watching some films succeed while others fail. So, starting this week, we're going to try and keep you, our favourite Basement Dwellers, in the box-officer loop by posting results every Sunday night.

It's all part of our master plan to take over the world, or generate content for our radio show, you decide. Read on for the weekly box office report:

The Last Exorcism, a gruesome documentary-style horror movie, beat out competitors for the top spot this weekend. The movie, directed by Daniel Stamm and co-produced by Eli Roth, a director known for his bloody thrillers, follows a disillusioned minister supposedly filming his last exorcism for a documentary.

The new release took 21.3 million dollars in its first weekend in US and Canadian theaters, according to preliminary figures from Exhibor Relations, beating out another newcomer Takers.

The heist film, starring Hayden Christensen, singers Chris Brown and T.I., and Idris Elba, follows the exploits of a group of professional thieves who take on one last job. It took 21 million dollars in box office receipts over the weekend, pushing last week's number one move, old school action flick The Expendables to the number three spot.

Expendables, Sylvester Stallone's film about a group of weathered mercenaries out to topple a South American dictator, earned 9.5 million dollars in its third week in theaters.

Down one spot to number four was Eat, Pray, Love, Ryan Murphy's adaptation of Elizabeth Gilbert's novel about a divorcee's jaunt to Italy, Indonesia and India, starring Julia Roberts. It earned seven million dollars in its third week of release.

Staying put at number five was The Other Guys, the latest Will Ferrell slapstick comedy, about two mismatched police officers paired on a high-profile crime investigation. It earned an estimated 6.6 million dollars.

Down four places to number six was Vampires Suck, a send-up of the Twilight series of heart throb-meets-horror films, which took 5.3 million dollars after debuting last week at the number two spot.

After spending last week at ninth place, blockbuster Inception jumped back up two places to number seven, showing the movie's staying power with audiences. The mindbending flick, starring Leonardo DiCaprio as an expert infiltrator of people's dreams, took 5.1 million dollars over the weekend to bring its seven week earnings to 270.7 million dollars.

Nanny McPhee Returns, the sequel to a popular kid's film starring British actress Emma Thompson in the title role, stayed put at number eight, earning 4.7 million dollars, while Jennifer Aniston's latest romantic comedy The Switch slipped two spots to number nine with earnings of 4.65 million dollars.

Rounding out the top 10 was summer horror spoof  Piranha 3D, which slipped four places after debuting last week and took in 4.3 million dollars.

Series 6 of Doctor Who to be Split in Two!

In a surprising and quite unexpected move, the BBC has announced that it will split the transmission of series 6 of Doctor Who in 2011 in two separate blocks.

According to the press statement, the first half of the series will air in the spring, with the second half set to air in the fall.

This is what the BBC said:
The split transmission is the result of a request from Steven Moffat to write a new Doctor Who story arc which involves a big plot twist in the middle of the series. By splitting the series Moffat plans to give viewers one of the most exciting Doctor Who cliffhangers and plot twists ever, leaving them waiting, on the edge of their seats, until the autumn to find out what happens.

Steven Moffat said: "The split series is hugely exciting because viewers will be treated to two premieres, two finales and more event episodes. For the kids it will never be more than a few months to the next Doctor Who! Easter, Autumn, Christmas!!"
Right now all I can think to say is Noooooooo. I hate cliffhangers and I hate being made to wait months to resolve a story. Personally, I'm quite disappointed with this decision to split the season in half and make us wait months again to see the rest of the series -- and I'm not so sure that it will turn out to be a good move.

But what do you guys think about the BBC and Steven Moffat's decision to split series 6 of Doctor Who in two? Good or bad idea?

BBC Confirms 'Sherlock' is Back for Series 2!

Yesterday came the best news ever: BBC controller Jay Hunt announced the return of Sherlock for a second series of three 90-minutes episodes for next year. However, viewers will have to wait patiently until the Fall of 2011 to view the further adventures of Sherlock Holmes and John Watson.

The series, strong of it's success both with critics and the public - the show averaged 7.2m viewers over the three Sherlock episodes: A Study in Pink, The Blind Banker and The Great Game) - recently ended it's run in the UK and will soon air here in North America starting October 24th on PBS Masterpiece Mystery.

Benedict Cumberbatch will return in the role of Sherlock Holmes, as will Martin Freeman in the role of his friend and colleague Dr. John Watson. Both actors were largely responsible for the success of the series due to their great on-screen chemistry.

Of series 2, co-creators Steven Moffat and Mark Gatiss had this to say:
"We've been overwhelmed by the warmth of response to our new Sherlock Holmes and John Watson and can't wait to take them on three new adventures next year. There'll be baffling new puzzles, old friends and new enemies – whether on two, or four legs. And we might well be seeing the cold master of logic and reason unexpectedly falling. But in love? Or over a precipice? Who can tell?"
Already the mind is whirling with the possibilities - maybe Irene Adler will make an appearance in an episode? and the four-legged enemy may be foreshadowing a modern adaptation of The Hound of the Baskerville? All of this is very exciting conjecture.

Next year has never seemed so far away.

Who Wore It Better?

                                       JC

Kristen was pictured in her Juicy Couture Tony Military Hooded Coat at both Sundance 2010 and most recently in Argentina. I asked which of the two you would prefer to be in this poll and Sundance seemed to win. The coat features a drawstring hood and hem, a double-breasted button up front and a flapped pockets. Katie Holmes has also been pictured wearing this coat.

Who do you think wore it better?

In Argentina

Hi everyone, just a quick post from me right now. I’ll add any details if i spot them next week, unfortunately I'm blogging from bed ill but next week I'll be making up for my absence next week.

Kristen was spotted in Argentina as she continues to film ‘On the Road’. She wore the same Converse Chuck Taylor All Star NEEHI Denim and Plaid Sneakers she wore at Sundance 2010, you can view that particular breakdown Here. These Converses feature blue denim with red and black buffalo plaid wool lining and rawhide laces. This particular model happen to be rare, they are featured Here on sneakers.pair.com. Kristen wears a Diesel K-Pend Grey Pullover which she has previously worn whilst travelling last year. The pullover features ribbed collar, cuffs and waistband with a drawstring hood and the signature Diesel logo at the hem. I love that she is not afraid to wear something more than once. Despite being sold out you can view details on Kristen’s Diesel K-Pend Grey Pullover Pullover Here. Her darker hooded top appears to be her EC Star Nuns with Guns Hoodie due to the faded colour however any other pictures reveal it not to be I'll change the details ASAP.

FACE

I didn’t use any primer for this look as the Gosh foundation has excellent coverage which lasts all day without a primer. It’s an excellent foundation which I would recommend getting. The shade I’ve used is the palest colour you can get and looks white on the video but isn’t really that pale. I applied it using a foundation brush all over the face. Then a put a light layer of powder over the foundation. Then I applied a medium brown blush in the shape of a “3” from the temple, down underneath the cheekbones and underneath the jaw line. Then I applied a pink blush on my cheekbones and lightly over the apples of my cheeks.

EYES

After applying a primer to the eye lid and in a thin line on the lower lid, apply a black shadow to the eye lid only. Gradually build up the black. Don’t pile on a huge amount all at once, otherwise, you’ll end up with tremendous amounts of fall down on your cheeks which is not a good look. Don’t be too neat with the shadow and create a subtle gradient of colour making the shadow darker at the top. Then using a black liner, fill in the bits you missed along the top lash line. Again, you don’t want to be too neat with this. Same with the lower lash line. Using a pencil liner in black apply a thin and not too neat line along the waterline into the inner corner of the eye. Before applying mascara, brush out your brows and using a dark brown colour fill in your brows. Make your brows as horizontal as your can. Don’t make too high of an arch. Make the start of your brows quite square and strong. Apply a light layer of clear mascara over them to keep the hairs in place all day. Then apply mascara. Go overboard with the mascara on the top lid. You can apply mascara to the lower lashes but not too much or none at all.

LIPS

First apply a pink lipstick. The one I’ve found is the perfect colour and I would really recommend this colour. It’s the most beautiful shade of pink. To make the colour pop add a bit of clear gloss over the middle of your lips.

Not Such An Impossible Mission?

First came the news that The Hurt Locker's Jeremy Renner will join Tom Cruise in the next Mission: Impossible movie and today Variety reports that the film won't be a Mission: Impossible movie at all.

Huh? Stick with us.

There were talks early on in the development that the project would introduce a younger agent to take over from fading star Cruise when he leaves the franchise. That way the producers wouldn't need to do a traditional reboot per say, but the series could still keep going.

It looks like that time is coming sooner as opposed to later. Mission: Impossible 4 won't be called Mission: Impossible 4 at all. Variety says neither word, nor the : or 4 will appear in the title. Paramount intends to explore new titles that would relaunch the series, kinda like what Warner Bros. did with Batman Begins and The Dark Knight.

Might we in The Basement suggest The Death of Ethan Hunt?

The new-non Mission: Impossible movie is directed by Brad (The Incredible) Bird and is scheduled to open Dec. 16, 2011.

First Video Q&A

*Blogged by Maria*

So this is my solution to answering all the questions I get on my YouTube videos. From now on instead of me writing millions of comments on each of my videos I will answer your questions more efficiently on this blog. To watch more of my videos click here. I’m also thinking of setting up another channel by Friday to host my latest Makeup Friday video and to house makeup videos only. I’ll keep everyone posted on that and I still have to come up with a name for the channel. If anyone has any ideas, please throw suggestions my way.

This first question was posted on my Eyebrow tutorial video from GhostBunnyEatsCheese

Q: Awesome! Thank you for making this! Random question but what do you use in your hair? It looks awesome!!

A: Haha! I thought my hair looked awful on the video but thank you very much! I just shampooed my hair with Avon Daily Shine 2-in-1 Shampoo & Conditioner.

Silent 'The Empire Strikes Back' fan video will leave you speechless with AWE!

The Empire Strikes Back is still celebrating its 30 years, so when I saw that fan made YouTube video, I knew I had to share it with you. It shows the famous reveal scene (you know, the one where Darth Vader tells Luke: ‘I am your father’) in the form of an old silent movie from way back when, topped with corny piano music and written dialogue - and I have to admit it’s so awesome, it had me grinning from ear to ear the entire time!

Enjoy!
